Often our clients overcome obstacles in life that would discourage other people. However, client Marsha did just that, and has a job she loves. She also has a successful and thriving business. Marsha loves gardening, and EC Sandy Sherman found Marsha the perfect job at Stringer Nursery. Marsha said this is her dream job.

She has started her own side business “OKIE Smallscapes”. Marsha conducts monthly gardening workshops and local pop-up shops around the Tulsa area. And, to top off all of this, she is a proud recent graduate of the Tulsa Master Gardeners program.

Marsha said, “I couldn’t have done all of this without the support of many people, including Job Connection”. We congratulate Marsha on her successes and wish her many more in the years to come!

Job Connection client with new employer CiCis

Darrius at CiCi's

Darrius at CiCi's

When two former school mates reconnected, great things happened for a Job Connection client! Employment Consultant Sandie Sherman and John Barbara, manager at CiCi’s Pizza, went to school together years before, and from this came a job offer for one of Sandie’s clients Darrius Carter!

Sandie said John told her he likes to find employees in unconventional places. John said hiring Darrius was a great experience for both of them! Darrius started bussing tables, then moved to running the commercial dishwasher. When the new game room opened, Darrius was trained to work in it. He now is working behind the counter, setting out pizza and shouting out to customers what kind of pizza is available.

Darrius started his job at CiCi’s in February 2019 and has been closed with successful employment. Darrius is always smiling for the customers. Pictured with Darrius is Manager John Barbara.
Successful job client in Bartlesville

Kasey at Regal 8

Kasey at Regal 8

Kacey is my first Customized Employment client. Kacey graduated from Bartlesville High School in May of 2018. He had hopes of finding something meaningful to do with his life and wanted a job. As part of my discovery with Kacey, I realized he loves people, he enjoys working with and being around different people in all walks of life. I also learned during this time, Kacey loves movies and popcorn! After much thought, I wondered if we could find him employment at the movie theater?

Kacey was hired, and I have never seen a person more happy to have a job. Kacey loves his job at the movie theater.

Job Connection, LLC wants to thank Regal 8 for believing in Kasey and giving him the opportunity to show what a good asset he is.
Brian at Honda in Muskogee, OK

Brian at Honda

Brian at Honda

Another success story for one of Job Connection’s clients! In August, Brian and Cheryl (Employment Consultant Supervisor) set out on his first job search journey. The Honda dealership is right around corner from Brian’s house. Cheryl asked him if he wanted to stop and see if they were hiring? He said he would like that.

The business was hiring and they completed a paper application. Within just a few minutes he was interviewed by Service Manager Harold and General Manager Craig. They walked out with Brian hired as the new Lot Porter! Brian has done a great job detailing cars, keeping cars on the used lot and cleaning the lot. Jeff, the new Service Manager is very pleased with Brian’s job performance. He stated Brian doesn’t say much, just does his job and does it well.

Job Connection is so proud of Brian and so appreciative of Honda of Muskogee for giving Brian the opportunity to have a job he truly loves. And, Brian saved up $1500 and bought a car! Pictured with Brian is Service Manager Jeff Taylor.

Rhiannon at Caddy Corner Consignment & Boutique

Rhiannon at Caddy Corner Consignment & Boutique

Part of the process to find employment is to take some of our clients out to do assessments at actual employment locations. This gives us the opportunity to find the strengths of our clients and to focus on those strengths for the best employment match.

One of those locations we took a client too was Caddy Corner Consignment & Boutique in Collinsville, OK. The owner Dianna Johnson (pictured left) was so impressed with our client Rhiannon (pictured right) that she decided to hire her. Rhiannon has now been employed there since February of 2019.

This is a great example of an employer giving an opportunity that turned into such a great success. If you are in Collinsville make sure to stop by Caddy Corner Consignment & Boutique and support them with your business.

Brian at The City of Tahlequah Parks & Rec.

Rhiannon at Caddy Corner Consignment & Boutique

Part of our intake with new clients asks the question, “what is your dream job?”. Most of the answers are firefighter, policeman, etc. Brian told me his dream job was to work for the City of Tahlequah. I didn’t think we had much of a chance, but one day while at Workforce we came across a job order for someone to work in the Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Tahlequah. We applied and a week later, Brian called me and said he had an interview! We went and he knocked it out of the park. He met his supervisor Rockie and they hit it off immediately.

Brian went to work in November 2018 and in May of 2019 we closed Brian with successful employment. We want to thank Rockie Neugin and his P&R crew for being so wonderful to Brian and welcoming him into the crew. And we at Job Connection are so very proud of Brian, for going after his dream job and succeeding in it so well!
